A Christian in the Church

Christian life unfolds in community: through worship, the sacraments, shared prayer and service to one another.

A parish is a community united by faith in Christ. Here we learn to love, forgive, help and grow together in faith.

Faith and life in community

Faith is more than a private experience. Christ calls us to life in His Church, to unity with God and with one another.

“For we are members of one another.”Ephesians 4:25

In the parish we share joys and difficulties, learn to care for others and support one another through prayer and practical help. The Church is not only a place where we receive something, but a community whose life we share.

Worship and the sacraments

Baptism is the beginning of the path into the Church. That path continues in life with Christ and participation in worship, Confession and Communion.

Personal prayer, fasting and reading Holy Scripture are important. Alongside these, Christian life includes the common prayer of the Church and participation in the Eucharist.

If you are just beginning this journey, read the preparation guides. Personal questions can be discussed with the priest.

Serving our neighbours

Participation in the parish continues after worship. Caring for the church, helping people in need, supporting those who are lonely, activities with children and shared work are all opportunities to serve God and others.

You can begin with a manageable task. Willingness to help, responsibility and care for those around you matter.

How to get involved in our parish

  • Sisterhood — caring for the church, helping the parish and works of mercy.
  • Youth group — fellowship, conversations about faith and gatherings.

Membership and responsibility

Being part of a parish means more than coming to church: it means sharing its life through prayer, help and care for the community and its needs.

Parish membership also involves responsibility for its organisation and regular support. See the membership page for how to join and participate in parish decisions.
